This month’s launches
Each month we pick out the new special screws and shaft couplings NBK has released that matter to European machine builders, with links to the full specifications on nbk1560.com. June 2026 brings three special screws: a washer-free vented screw for vacuum equipment and two PEEK plastic screws.
SVFSS-AG — vented flanged socket head cap screws, silver plating
A vacuum-vented socket head cap screw that does away with the washer: the flanged head enlarges the bearing surface, dispersing the pressure on the fastened material, preventing the bearing surface from sinking and covering even large drilled holes. Because no washer has to be mounted, the part count drops — which also makes the screw well suited to automated fastening by robots. The ventilation hole releases the gas trapped in tapped holes and supports vacuum drawing, and the silver plating adds lubricity and electrical conductivity, preventing seizing and enabling use in conductive sections of electronic equipment.
SPE-C — plastic hex socket head cap screws, PEEK
Hex socket head cap screws made entirely of PEEK, the super engineering plastic that resists almost all chemicals other than concentrated sulfuric, nitric and hydrofluoric acid, is highly heat-resistant and retains its strength at high temperature. NBK notes one manufacturing consequence to design for: because of cumulative pitch differences in PEEK thread production, the screws should be used with a nut — or, without one, with a female-thread engagement of 20 mm or less.
SPE-LC — plastic hex socket low head bolts, PEEK
The same PEEK screw as a low-head version conforming to DIN 7984: for equipment with limited space above the screw head, and everywhere a standard cap head simply does not fit. Material properties match the SPE-C — the difference is purely the head height.
