Machine tool

High-torque, high-rigidity shaft couplings and high-strength screws for the machine tool industry: precision drive trains and positioning axes.

Overview

Precision components for the machine tool industry

The machine tool industry with their precision drive trains depend on couplings that transmit torque accurately and hold their position under load. Any backlash or torsional wind-up shows up directly as positioning error, so servo and stepper axes need zero-backlash, torsionally stiff connections. NBK Europe supplies high-torque, high-rigidity shaft couplings and high-strength special screws engineered for demanding motion and drive applications.

Bellows and disc couplings combine zero backlash with high torsional rigidity for accurate servo positioning, while jaw and rigid types handle high torque and general drive duty. High-strength fasteners keep assemblies secure under vibration and load. Full specifications and CAD files are available per product on nbk1560.com. Applications

CNC machining centre

These machines run 24/7 with very short tool change times. They combine high-speed, dynamic movements at high precision with long-term reliable performance. Here high-gain couplings of the XG series are used, as they enable a reduction in settling times and rapid absorption of vibration with zero backlash.

Battery assembly device

For this customer the requirement was high speed and precision positioning. They offer a turnkey solution for battery assembly including automated unpacking of incoming material, casing assembly, PCB assembly, laser welding, testing and final-product testing. This customer was able to improve production throughput and quality, key aspects in battery production. A combination of shaft couplings and special screws was used: the focus for the couplings was high torsional rigidity, and the XHW disc-style coupling was selected, alongside slit coupling MSX-C and high-strength screw SNSLG-TF.

Frequently asked questions

Which coupling is best for a servo axis?

Zero-backlash couplings with high torsional rigidity, such as bellows and disc types, are preferred for servo axes because they transmit motion without lost angular play and keep positioning accurate under load.

What does zero backlash mean for accuracy?

Zero backlash means there is no lost angular play between the shafts, so commanded motion is transferred one-to-one. This prevents positioning error and is essential for precise machine-tool and positioning drives.

Do you supply high-strength screws for drive assemblies?

Yes. High-strength and high-tensile special screws are available for assemblies that must stay secure under vibration and heavy load, with full specifications on nbk1560.com.
