Coupling for motion control

High-Gain Rubber Coupling (XGT · XGL · XGS)

Zero-backlash elastomer coupling that combines high torsional stiffness with superior vibration and shock damping, ideal for dynamic servo drives.

  • High-gain type
  • Stepper motor
  • Servo motor
  • Zero backlash
  • High torque
  • Vibration absorption

Which coupling absorbs vibration without adding backlash for servo motors?

A high-gain rubber coupling such as the NBK XGT/XGL/XGS transmits torque through a high-performance elastomer element bonded between two metal hubs. The tuned rubber gives high torsional stiffness with excellent damping, so it absorbs vibration and shock while staying zero backlash. This protects motors, bearings and gears in dynamic servo automation. It is offered in standard (XGT), long (XGL) and short (XGS) versions.

Features

  • Zero backlash
  • Excellent for servo-motor high torque
  • Superior vibration and shock absorption
  • High torsional stiffness combined with effective damping
  • Especially suited to dynamic applications

Overview

The high-gain rubber coupling transmits torque smoothly while effectively absorbing vibration and shock loads, especially in high-dynamic applications. It is available in three designs (XGT, XGL and XGS), all offering zero backlash.

Working principle

Two precision-machined metal hubs are connected by a high-performance elastomer element bonded between them, forming a compact, maintenance-free assembly. In operation the rubber deforms elastically to compensate angular, parallel and axial misalignment while damping torsional vibration and reducing noise and resonance between driving and driven shafts.

The "high-gain" rubber is optimised for high torsional stiffness with excellent damping, ensuring stable torque transmission while protecting motors, bearings and gears from dynamic loads and sudden shocks. It is well suited to servo motors and precision machinery.

Attachment types

XGT and XGS are offered as set-screw, single-clamp (CS) and double-clamp split (C) types. XGL is offered as a double-clamp split (C) type.
